How fuel cost is calculated

Fuel consumption is commonly stated as liters per 100 kilometers. Multiply the trip distance by the vehicle’s consumption, then divide by 100 to estimate the liters required. Multiply that result by the price per liter to calculate the total fuel cost.

Dividing the total cost by the distance gives the fuel cost per kilometer. A passenger count also divides the total equally. Traffic, terrain, weather, vehicle load, tire pressure, air conditioning, and driving style can change real consumption.

Worked example

A 250 km trip at 6.5 L/100 km requires 16.25 liters. At 14.20 MAD per liter, fuel costs 230.75 MAD, or about 0.923 MAD per kilometer. Shared by four passengers, that is 57.69 MAD each.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the fuel cost estimate?

It is as accurate as the distance, average consumption, and fuel price entered. Traffic, terrain, weather, load, and driving style can change real consumption.

Which fuel consumption figure should I use?

Use the figure that best matches your route. A recent real-world average is often more useful than a laboratory rating.

Can I calculate a return journey?

Yes. Enter the total distance for both directions.

How is cost per passenger calculated?

The total fuel cost is divided equally by the passenger count. Tolls, parking, and maintenance are excluded.

Are my trip details stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and the values are not sent or stored.
